Web Summit 2018
A little self-promotion never hurt anybody.
I got a "boring" product on the Web Summit stage — and into the pitch competition semi-finals
At SnapCall I pushed for us to apply to the Web Summit pitch competition, then built everything behind it: the narrative, the deck, the interviews and the pitch itself. We made it to the semi-finals in front of an international jury and audience.
What I actually did
- Spotted the opportunity and convinced the team to apply — this was my initiative, not a brief handed to me.
- Built the story: took a technical, hard-to-explain product and turned it into a narrative people wanted to listen to.
- Designed and wrote the full pitch deck, positioning and messaging.
- Ran the interviews and press moments around the event.
- Delivered the pitch on stage — semi-finalist at Web Summit 2018.
- Told the story publicly afterwards — I wrote the Medium article on how SnapCall made it to the semi-finals.
